The Case of The Engagement Ceremony
Sunday, January 417:56
Hello people, i'm back.
From Wak Aziz's house all the way somewhere in Tembeling Rd(i think that's how to spell)

Okay, so firstly, we went there. Then after a while Wak Rama asked us to eat, but i didn't. I just drank.
Then went back in again.
Then fast forward.
Then a lot of other people whom i do not know came.
Then after a few minutes or so, the guy side came.
In a bus no less.
Like the real wedding like that.
Then it was soo crowded that we had to stand on the stairs.
After the representative from each side said stuffs which i didn't hear and recite all the doa all that, it was not over. Yet.
Kakak Noni came down so that the person can put the ring on her finger.
Oh yeah, i forgot to mention the guy is not there.
The reason i wanted to go was because i want to see what type of doctor he was.
But i still don't get the answer.
Then they all took pictures and the gifts all that were being exchanged.
Okay, i didn't know tunang also got exchange of gifts thing.
I thought it was only during the solemnisation.
Nevermind.
I know got cake. And chocolate.
And some other stuffs i don't bother to know what's that.
Then Cik Lin, Cik Arif(my chinese uncle whom i do not know how to spell his name. I don't even know what's his birth name), Wak Midah and Wak Noi came.
Then blahblahblah and we went outside.
Wak Tini and Wak Halim were there.
Then i stoned somewhere near the gate because i don't have a place to sit.
And i asked my mom a few questions.
Then I sat at the other table at the grass thing.
Like a 'garden table' you'll see in the houses of the people in malay shows in malaysia.
Oh yeah, out of all the guests, i don't know like almost 98% of them.
Not related to me anyway, so of course i don't know them.
Then after some time, Cik Lok and family came.
Then i don't know what.
Then around four something we went back home.
That's all.

I realised that they were doctors among the guests.
Haiz. People like that are always associated with people like my uncle's status.
Wealth, i mean.
If the engagement is already that big, what about the wedding?
I bet it'll be some grand grand wedding.
Maybe the venue could be somewhere like hotels or some high class place.
Wait, i must be there to attend the wedding.
I need to see my soon-to-be cousin-in-law right?
Since i don't know the cousins who already gotten married long long time ago and the cousins-in-law.
Don't think that the reason for not knowing is that i'm anti-social.
It's because i only like see them like once every blue moon.
Nope, i don't even think it's blue moon.
Probably once every umm, orange moon?
THAT'S how much i see them.
And they live in Malaysia.
What are their names again? I have absolutely no clue.
Blame it on the age difference(they're like, i don't know, 30-something, and i'm like only 12. I mean 13. Last time i saw them was when i was either the age of 9,10,11 or somewhere around there.)
And blame it on the distance.
They probably live somewhere in some area in Malaysia i don't know.
I think that's probably the first time i see them. Or second or third.
I don't know. Probably i was very very very young when i saw them.
Haiz, those are my malaysian cousins from my father's side who also married malaysian.
Imagine if i'm somewhat related to some indonesian guy.
Wahahahaha. He could be like Pasha or she could be like BCL. I don't mind. Even if they're related to celebs. That's the best.
I remembered last time, my dad's aunt or someone of higher rank than that came to Wak Nani's house in Bishan St 13. (lucky not 14)
I think it's 13.
And she's from somewhere in indonesia.
Some remote place lah.
And Wak Nani speaks Javanese. Cool.
But i don't understand.
Can i go and learn about my family history?
I think i should, rather than learning about the history of ancient civilisations and singapore and stuffs.
Isn't it a good idea?

Here's some of the facts i know so far.
My grandfather and grandmother are cousins.
My grandfather has chinese blood while my grandmother has indian blood.
My arwah Yai has javanese blood.
My grandfather's kampong is at somewhere in Melaka. Because we always go there so i know.
One of my mom's uncle lives in a big house in Melaka or somewhere. We went there for my mom's cousin's wedding.
I can only recognise my mom's Pak Tam's face.
My mom's aunt, Mak Lang Lijah lives in Holland. As in the place near the Buona Vista MRT or something.
One of my dad's cousin lives in australia. Somewhere. I think it's, uh, Perth? Or something.
My oldest cousin is not really mature. He studied in London(not fair!). He graduated not too long ago. And he's not qualified for duit raya anymore. Muahahaha.
My first uncle is not really my uncle. As in he was sort of adopted but nonetheless, everyone still treats him as part of the family.
His wife, is somewhat related to some actress in malaysia. (i'm not sure cause my mom told me that when i was in P5)
My dad's side is somewhat related to some ex-actor guy who's now living somewhere out there. But it's like somewhat distant relative connection.
I know Mak Uda works somewhere in the airport as a something i don't know.
Pak Ngah works in JB.
Mak Chek is somewhat a teacher.
Pak Chek works in NTU. Gah.
Ateh is the only uncle from my mom's side who is not called by Pak something.
Cik Ita is the only aunt from my mom's side who is not called by Mak something. She works with the police force. The coast guard or whatsoever thing. In short, she's a police.
Mak Usu owns a shop. Now two shops. Used to work in NTU also but she quit. Or something.

Wahahahah, not bad hah my information?
There were actually 11 children in total in my dad's family but one died.
Wak Jijah is the oldest. And she lives in Malaysia, somewhere in the place starting with a B? Or was it K?
I don't know how to address her husband. Supposedly, it's Pak Long. Meaning i think i have 2 pak longs.
I don't know any of her children. Neither do i know her grandchildren. How many children does she have again?
Two of my aunts and one uncle are not married. Spinsters and bachelor.
Wak Aziz has the biggest house among all. He's a pilot.
Wak Rama was an ex-stewardess according to my mom. I think that's how they met.
One of their daughters is the same age as me, but somewhat i think she looks older and more mature than me. School's TKGS.
I don't know the birth order of my dad's siblings.
Wak Azman lives in Bukit Panjang. Or was it Choa Chu Kang? Somewhere lah.
Wak Jamaliah is a schoolmate of Ateh. It's a small small world after all.
One of their daughters is also the same age as me, but she's more responsible than me. Wahahahaha. I'm lazy; i know.
Wak Halim rides a motorcycle. I know he lives in Hougang.
Wak Tini is the aunt i told you about long long time ago.
My dad is the nineth child. Hahah. My mom is the only daughter-in-law of this family who is working. The rest are all housewives.
Cik Lok lives in Bedok Reservoir.
Cik Siti, i got nothing to say about her.
Their first son is also the same age as the three of us. I know his school is VS.
Cik Lin is the youngest of all. She has a nice house. I admit, she has the nicest house i've ever gone to. Nice. She got married in uh, 2005? I think. I don't know lah. She's the only aunt that i actually attended her wedding(because the rest got married before i was born). I also know she's a teacher. And know one of the teachers in cedar. Am i dead or what?
Cik Arif, as i told you, he's my chinese uncle. Can i call him that? Sounds cool. As you know, the only pure non-malay close relative of mine. And he's a teacher too. He's the only uncle that i actually attended his wedding. Wahahahaha. I remembered that wedding the most.
The solemnisation should be on a saturday. Then the wedding itself was on sunday(i remembered because i couldn't watched my Urban Legends.) I think lah. Then got the tea ceremony the next day. Cool. The only one that is out of the malay tradition. Cool again. Then got a dinner the next day. Hmm, isn't my memory good? I even remembered the fact that his students went to his wedding. Woah. Seemed that no teacher has invited me to his/her wedding. Unless of course the teacher is a close relative. But what i mean is, a teacher who actually taught me has never invited me or a friend to his/her wedding. (we'll probably go and laugh hahahahaah. scary by the thought of it.) I only heard of students inviting their ex-teachers to their wedding. I don't know of any examples in my extended family. Uh, i only know Chun-hyang and Mong-Ryong sung at their teacher's wedding. But i haven't watch that episode before. About students inviting their teachers, i bet they're the people who probably met at school. As in the couple. Haha. I read that some even married at their school campus, where they first met. Hah. Bet you none of it will happen at my school. Wahahahaha.

I'm going out of point again.
So it seems that i know little about my family from both sides.
I want to track down where my ancestors live in the past.
Like the javanese side, do they like live in indonesia? Before going here?
Can i also track down where all my relatives working at?
And their secondary schools? Haha.
I only know my mom is from Bukit Panjang Government High while my dad is whitley secondary or something. Hahah.
I try to dig out information as to how my parents met, but no one wants to tell me.
And i still remember i had an unfinished project from my dad years ago that i have to make the family tree.
Haiz, i don't bother to do.
Might as well i go learn about heriditary.

Au Revoir.
